And I lived to tell about it! Those of you outside the state of Colorado might not immediately know where I went. I'll clue you in on that...Colorado Springs. Yep, that conservative attracting bastion of the religious right and fan club of the McCain-Palin campaign. I had some work to do there for the children. Thankfully, I was PAID to be there. And now I'm back in the safety of my own home, far away from the bigots. Don't get me wrong though, there are some nice people in Colorado Springs. And the city has an AWESOME view:
Sigh...at least it's a pretty place to visit. I just wouldn't want to live there. The main reason is the Focus on the Family campus and the people that work there. I believe that everyone has a right to have crazy thinking. I don't believe they have the right to thrust it upon others. I also object to the fact that for many years their campus was lit up like a roman candle after 11pm. Not sure if they finally figured out to turn out the lights and join the rest of the state in attempting to conserve energy, but I hope they've seen the light at least in that area...heh.

Well the picture you have is nice...i love the trees when they turn---makes me miss home, doesn't really inspire me to visit colorado springs, but does make me want to hop a plane and head straight to new england
J...you'd love to visit Co Spgs for the tourist attractions, but don't talk to anyone...lol
I didn't realize that Springs was such as bastion of rightwinginess..lol..Boulder must be the polar opposite of it.
And speaking of trees, where are our pictures of your land now that fall is here?
Such a wonderful place wasted on such creepy population... sounds exactly like Vatican City to my Italian ears ;)
Yen...as it happens I went up to my land on Sunday and I did take a picture. Tune in Wednesday for my wine post to see...
Gentleman...you're probably right...unfortunately.
Colorado Springs is an interesting town. I used to have to drive down there for work quite often. It does have some beautiful views of the mountains. The Focus freaks are freaky tho.
It's beautiful but I'd have trouble with the Focus on teh Family (Dobson's folks, right?)freaks. But I would be surprised if my current home is any less bigoted.
Lost...I try to remember that the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman show was based near Pikes Peak, so as to trick my brain into good thoughts as I drive past the Focus campus...lol
Citizen...yes Focus is run by the one who's name should not be said (or written)...ew.
Scary as CS is, it is the home of the USAF Academy, which explains a little. The service academies have always been a bit on the conservative side, but with the advent of the Bush administration and it fascist policies, it has gotten nuts. I did a post on the kind of crazy that is currently going on in the military.
